Beginner Guide
For the new recruit who just picked up the toothbrush. This covers the stable, universal parts of the launch build — your first session, the loop, and the mistakes that waste your first hours.
Your First Session
You start with a toothbrush and a tight budget from the Lunar Surface Department (LSD). The opening teaches the loop by hand — follow it, but a little order goes a long way before you chase the whole Moon.
- Sweep your first lunar dust. The brush is slow on purpose — that's the joke and the grind.
- Carry dust to the nearest depot and launch the shipment to get paid.
- Spend your first earnings on carrying capacity before bigger tools — more capacity means fewer trips back.
- Only wander far from your depot once your storage can handle a full round trip.
- Open Settings to confirm your control scheme (controller or keyboard/mouse) before a long session.
The Core Loop
Moon Sweepers is one loop, repeated and scaled. Master it and the rest is logistics:
| Step | What you do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Collect | Sweep lunar dust off the surface | Dust is the only currency — it's everywhere |
| Deposit | Bring it to a depot and launch the shipment | You can't get paid until it leaves the Moon |
| Earn | Get paid for the shipment | Cash funds every upgrade |
| Upgrade | Buy better tools and more carrying capacity | Each upgrade makes the next trip shorter |
Controls Basics
The game has full controller support (DualShock / DualSense and Steam Input) and runs on PC. Exact key bindings aren't published yet — check Settings → Controls in-game. See the dedicated Controls & Settings guide for what's confirmed.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Wrong: ignore carrying capacity. Right: upgrade capacity early — it compounds every single trip.
- Wrong: sweep far from a depot first. Right: build a clean, paid base near your depot before expanding outward.
- Wrong: assume friends will pull their weight. Right: in co-op, assign zones — idle crew is the real enemy.
- Wrong: expect deep combat or enemies. Right: this is a cleanup sim — the only opponents are dust and logistics.
- Wrong: chase a perfectly clean Moon alone. Right: track progress per area and move on; the surface fills in as you go.
